How and when to eat fruits.
I read this article recently by Dr.Di...and thought that this is a must share....so here it is....
We all think eating fruit means just buying it, cutting it and popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.
What is the correct way of eating fruits?
FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!
When you eat fruit by itself, it can plays a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so. In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil. This is when we experience gas, bloating or cramping.
This is true for any sugar (dessert) after meals.
So eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals!
There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. My alkaline acid food chart lists all fruits as alkaline accept for cranberries.
If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.
But, if you have a sensitivity to sugar or are on a yeast free diet, fruit may need to be limited or eliminated because of the sugar content, especially in the form of juices.
Eating whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. Frozen is better than canned or cooked for nutrient content. The one way I do mix fruit is in a protien shake or with plain yogurt. Otherwise the food combining will cause problems with digestion and toxin build up. And, certain fruits should not be mixed together. Oranges, grapefruit and melons should be eaten alone. The rest are ok to mix up, but as a rule I eat one type of fruit at a time with exception to berries which I like to mix.
Another mistake people make is drinking liquids with their meals. If you drink too much with a meal it dilutes the digestive enzymes and impairs digestion. Any food that does not digest completely turns to toxins and fat. You should not drink half our before a meal and at least 45 minutes after. A little water with a meal is fine to take your vitamins or digestive enzymes but do not over do it.
And cold water is not good after a meal either. It solidifies the fats and oily stuff and will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. This can line the intestines and cause health issues when combined with acid foods. So ice water with or after a meal not a good idea.
